Fast Five: Monico Blonde

How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band name?

We formed over an argument about whether Prince was as good as Michael Jackson. We never solved the argument but started a band instead. The Monico was a cool little cinema we all went to in the suburb where we grew up. It seemed like an obvious place to take inspiration from.

How would you describe your music?

We haven’t got that far. How would you describe it?

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

We started this summer and we’ve been having a lot of fun in the studio, writing loads of tunes and getting the live show tight. These next few months will be about gigging to as many people as possible and letting everyone know who we are.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

We’d love to duet with David Bryne. We can imagine working with him being pretty mind blowing.

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

This changes all the time but at the moment it’s Little Creatures by Talking Heads. The lyrics are full of wild imagination combined with amazing melodies.
