Fast Five: Amy Duncan
When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?
I started my music career as a classically trained double bass player, and turned to songwriting after having my son in 2000.
How would you describe your music?
Folk/acoustic. Emotional and honest songs about life.
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?
At the beginning of 2012 I received Creative Scotland funding which allowed me to work with renowned producer Calum Malcom. He introduced me to Linn Records who loved the songs, and my new album ‘Cycles of Life’ is being released through them on the 15th April 2013! I have 2 album launch dates: Edinburgh Voodoo Rooms on the 18th April, and London, The Gallery Cafe, Bethnal Green on the 4th May as well as a Glasgow gig at Stereo on the 20th April 7pm.
If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?
Erm, I’m not sure I would be keen on singing a duet with anyone to be honest!
What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?
Desert island disc would have to be Jon Hopkins Contact Note. I have listened to it a lot over the years and I never tire of it.
