How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band name?
We met while Jess was on tour with a group called The Overtones. We were actually playing for them on tour and through that started hanging out with Jess a lot. We got to know each other really well and then once the tour was over our relationship continued and here we are now. Our name was a collaboration of several people really. We sat with our management and just went back and forth with different ideas. As soon as Jess and the Bandits came out, we knew that was the one!
How would you describe your music?
Definitely contemporary country. A lot of people have told us they love how that we aren’t exactly traditional country but still embody the storytelling and musicality that people know and love about country music.
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?
We have been busy that’s for sure! We started the year performing a private gig to a packed house in London, played the Little Rabbit Barn as well as the Country Collective at Canary Wharf in February, and then had an amazing two days at Country to Country in March. Now Jess is off to SXSW in Austin then we will be hitting the road this summer for festivals and also planning a headline tour this year!
If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?
Right now it would have to be Sam Hunt. His music is breaking boundaries in country music and he has such a unique sound. I think a collaboration between all of us would be amazing!
What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?
Probably anything by Stevie Wonder!
