Fast Five: Laura Stevenson

When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?

I started writing when I was very little, like, 5 years old. I didn’t get serious about it until I was about 18 though. As for other careers, I guess I toy with the idea of a plan B but, I’m sticking with this for now.

How would you describe your music?

Sometimes I say “adult contemporary” to make my bandmates squirm. It’s inoffensive rock and roll? I don’t know.
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

I just got off a month long tour with Against Me! in the states and am currently on tour of the UK and some mainland Europe. Songwriting is going well when I have the chance to sit down so, expect a new record within the next year or so.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

Ooooh, probably Emmylou Harris because she has the most amazing voice in the world and can sing with anyone.

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

That’s tough because if it was the only thing I had, I think I’d listen to it too much, but I’d have to say- Neil Young, Comes a Time. That’s my favorite record, my dad used to play it in the morning all the time.

Laura Stevenson’s recent album ‘Wheel’ was officially released in the UK and throughout Europe on April 7th, with her UK tour starting on April 9th.
