How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band name?

Alex and Ben Brown are brothers so that’s fairly self explanatory – Ben was born and then a few years later Alex was born, they said hello and decades later formed a band. Me [Ben Ward] and Ben met in sixth form, we both played in bands, did shows and stuff together, been friends ever since. Krista and Ben fell in love a few years back after she saw him play Latitude festival with Dingus Khan. In 2014 Ben and Ben make some songs, needed some buddies to help out. Krista learned bass, Alex already shred and sung beautifully. Wow, now there’s a band.

How would you describe your music?

Punk pop. But not pop-punk in the pop-punk sense of the phrase. It’s punk rock covered in pop but without the connotations that the combination of genres usually has. We don’t live in California and can’t really skateboard very well.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

We have played a ton of shows, released a couple of records, met some brilliant people, had great support from some brilliant institutions – BBC Radio 1 have been superb – and have headlined some really cool festivals this year (Reading & Leeds and Latitude). Happy to be heading over to America in the spring of 2017 for SXSW. I’m writing this whilst sitting in a recording studio – we (I) somehow recorded 6 drum tracks yesterday so that’s a thing, a new record will be out at some point next year. Sounding super great so far.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

Lil John. I like his yelp and how crunk he always seems to be.

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

Probably Turn on The Bright Lights by Interpol… might make me want to kill myself though. The 3 E.Ps by The Beta Band would get me through the hard times.
