Festival News
As another festival closes one more opens. A new festival has been created honouring the late John Peel and will take place in Norwich in October. As it is planned to be after the summer festival circuit will they be able to sustain any form of longevity? We will have to wait and see. The news of The John Peel Festival of New Music came the same week as the news that the Crystal Palace Garden Party Festival has been cancelled. The festival was scheduled to take place at the end of June. The official statement reveals it is due to inadequate stage equipment but organisers are hoping to be able to resume next year.
Don’t Mess With Manson
Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson has proven that she is no one to be reckoned with recently when she kicked a fan out of one of Garbage’s live shows for punching someone. Manson saw the male member of the audience lash out at a woman and became enraged. After scolding the gig-goer she threw him out of the concert. The scene which unfolded at the Atlantic City gig on their current US tour was captured and can be viewed on YouTube.
Slash Fans Not Allowed
Fans of ex-Guns and Roses guitarist Slash were forced to turn their t-shirts adorned with Slash’s face inside out at the recent Guns and Roses gigs. Anyone sporting a Slash “T” was told to turn it around or they were turned away. The feud between Axl and Slash continues. The band have also been criticised for their unprofessional behaviour on this tour, turning up hours later than scheduled. Is this ‘Rock and Roll’ or just plain reprehensible behaviour? Let us know your thoughts.
