
Caitlin Rose has subtly snuck under the radar in many respects, her country filled melodies receiving rather less recognition that tonight’s performance suggests she deserves. Whilst her songs are somewhat downbeat, even a little melancholy at times, their wry look at life combines with her humorous stage banter culminating to make me and those present realise that they’ve witnessed something downright special.

My initial reaction when entering this relaxed arts venue was surprise at the audience demographic. Considering that Caitlin Rose is currently doing the rounds as part of the Twisted Folk tour, the scene last night was a fairly typical older English folk crowd. Few people looked below the age of forty, and even fewer looked younger than thirty. At twenty four, I was perhaps the youngest audience member. Emerging onto the heavily contested country music scene is recently turned twenty-three year old singer-songwriter, Caitlin Rose, who is awaiting the release of her debut album Own Side Now. This is scheduled to hit the stores on the 9th August 2010.
