Cara Dillon

26/04/2012 | Cara Dillon – Cecil Sharp House, London

26/04/2012 | Cara Dillon – Cecil Sharp House, London As a Cara convert after last years Queen Elizabeth Hall gig, there’s a sense of expectation which lingers before tonight’s show. With her appearance on the new Shakespeare Sonnets album (with Shall I Compare Thee To A Summers Day?) and having penned a song for Disney’s Tinkerbell and The Great Fairy Rescue, there’s every possibility that Cara has begun to digress from her more traditional routes, which creates an air of apprehension. Thankfully, tonight indicates that she clearly hasn’t lost her routes, in a set filled with her most well known songs. Opening with...

Awaiting image I will confess I’m not Cara Dillon’s greatest fan, but countless car rides with her music as the background and she has seeped inside my skin. Glancing around Queen Elizabeth Hall it’s obvious that tonight is going to appeal to the middle class masses, underdressed and underage (at least in relation to the rest of the crowd) I can only begin to wonder if Cara will cut it, as far as I’m concerned. Still, Cara kicks off with The High Walls Of Derry/Johnny Oh Lovely Johnny and my trepidation subsides. I have always believed that folk music is the heart and soul of modern music to date,...

Cara Dillon Interview

Awaiting image With a latest solo album about to be recorded and a number of UK dates starting this week, Cara Dillon talks to More Than The Music. MTTM: During your solo career you’ve often opted to perform and record traditional songs as well as ones you’ve written yourselves, what is the reasoning behind this and how do you choose what you’re going to record? CD: Well my roots are in traditional song and music so that’s something that’s always been very close to my heart. I think I’ll always sing traditional songs. When I was 19 I got signed to Warner Music and we got put in touch with lots...

17/03/2010 | Cara Dillon with special guest Seth Lakeman – East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf The East Wintergarden may on first inspection seem an odd sort of venue for a St Patrick’s Day concert. A glass covered atrium in the heart of Canary Wharf surrounded by skyscrapers and modern office blocks, it’s a world away from Cara Dillon’s home town of Dungiven and a far cry from her Irish roots. But tonight is no average concert and it seems appropriate to give it an extraordinary venue. Accompanied by an expanded band and with a guest performance by former Equation band mate and folk sensation, Seth Lakeman, those lucky enough to secure a ticket are unquestionably to be granted a...
