When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?
Ever since I can remember I ALWAYS wanted to be a singer / musician. I knew it was music, and from about 7 I was pretty certain that singing would be the focus. My mum had me in violin lessons from the age of 2!
How would you describe your music?
I always find this question so hard because it’s definitely a fusion of lots of things. This album (This Year) is kind of alternative pop with bluesy, Tarantino-type American, folk and Latin touches. I recorded it between London, Mexico and LA so I guess you can hear that! But everyone will have their own way of describing it.
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?
I have been so busy making my new album ‘This Year’ which is now out now as of this week! I’m very excited to be promoting that and looking forward to getting on the road with it in the new year. But I’ve also been SUPER busy producing an presenting my own live music TV show for IRISH TV called The Ayala Show that showcases some amazing talent from around the globe. I also have plans to head over to Latin America and the US and promote my music over there at some point.
If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?
Actually, I recently had the joy to collaborate with the incredible multi platinum selling Gilbert O’Sullivan on his stunning new record and I’m singing a duet with him on that called I Guess I’ll Always Love You which is one of the most stunning songs I’ve ever heard! It’s utterly gorgeous, and I’m happy with that for now 🙂
What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?
Actually I think it might be something like Gloria Estefan’s Mi Tierra. It’s one of those records I never get bored of and always keeps my spirits up! Or a Stevie Wonder record.
