When did you begin making music, and did you ever ponder a different career?
Yes at first I wanted to be an actor but the singing was probably more natural and it was what I was better at. I also wanted to be a property developer but then realised that you have to have money to do that … Hmmm…
How would you describe your music?
Getting better but still developing. I’d like to think that it has those instantly catchy chorus melodies and anthemic and pop rifts, but with a bit of darkness and cool in there.
What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?
So since I made writing and performing my own music my main focus a couple of years ago, I’ve written tons of songs and recorded many of them in the studio (with the production process). I released my debut EP Fly Away last year and played a few great festivals (Live at Leeds Festival, Warrington Festival). Now I’m releasing a few new songs in the coming months, the first single of which is Higher. I’ll be doing a tour to support the release of my 2nd EP ‘Higher’ in January, which will be around the North-West and the EP will have 2 other tracks on it: ‘Seven Seas’ and ‘Pray’, then I’ll be back in the studio next year working on the new songs I’ve written and hopefully playing some really cool festivals with my new backing band.
If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?
I think James Bay has a really cool voice for doing a duet with as his has so much style and charisma in it and so different from mine, and his different tone and pitch might match up really well with my lower tone and contrasting style.
What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?
Hot Fuzz – The Killers, its got a mix of everything in terms of themes and emotions and more simply I think I’ll never tire of hearing most of the songs on that album.
