How did you meet and what’s the story behind your band name?

We are all from the same area of Liverpool. A Few years ago we were all gigging separately in various different bands. We would gig on the same bills and I think we all recognised each other’s quality. We decided to get together and jam. We were all of a similar age and into the same things both inside and outside of music so it just clicked. It was sound because from day one there were no egos, no trying to out-do each other or anything. We were all there to play tunes the best we all could. Recently we got serious. Writing, producing and performing stepped up a gear and the band was born.

We landed on our sound and style before the name. We had a pretty dark chromatic sound and wanted a name to match that.

Being a gang of lads first and foremost always had a sort of cult feel to it. Like a club.

We watched loads of horror films looking for a key word or idea to base our name on and landed on ‘red rum’ from The Shining. Then we decided ‘Red Rum Club’ had a nice ring to it and we had our name.

How would you describe your music?

Teenage Tarantino. We write Big. The guitar sounds are quite dark and western. There’s lots of energy in our tunes and the songs all sound big and cinematic I think. They are quite dramatic and we definitely have a vibe about us. We aim for our songs to be big enough for movies aswell as radio. If Tarantino did the next Bond movie we would half expect to be the ones he chose to do the soundtrack.

What have you been up to so far and what can we expect over the coming months?

We’ve only played a hand full of gigs over the last couple of months. We are sitting on a roster of songs each waiting for their turn.

With the release of our debut “Everybodys Friend” we have a few other releases lined up towards the end of the year.

We plan to release a video and a B side. We have a few decent gigs announced for over the next couple of months. The gigs are always getting bigger and better and the live shows are what we get excited about the most.

The feedback so far for the single has been boss and it looks like it’s going to continue so we are all buzzing. Eager to get another tune out ASAP. We are definitely in for a busy couple of months.

If you could duet with anybody who would it be and why?

Gazelle.

She’s a singer from our home city, Liverpool. She has an unbelievable voice. She is one of the rare breed of performers capable of melting the room whenever she sings. Our energy and sound with the contrast of her voice could be class.

Although the writing proccess would be a headache. I’ve heard she’s a bit of a diva.

What’s your desert island disc and why would you take this one album?

Rumours – Fleetwood Mac

It’s just got everything hasn’t it. Don’t know what else to say.

It can upset and arouse, make you want to dance and make you want to cry.

Probably because it’s true to their lives.

Every tune means something true to them.

Its stood the test of time aswell.
