Slam Dunk Festival is back with a bang for 2017, as the UK’s favourite touring festival returns to multiple locations over the Spring bank holiday weekend. The event will be back at Birmingham’s NEC on 27th May, Leeds City Centre on 28th May, and Hatfield Forum on 29th May. Doors open at 1pm each day for an epic alternative lineup across eight stages. The stage splits have recently been announced for the festival, and it looks to be an incredible lineup for this year.
The Jagermeister stage hosts a plethora of wonderful acts; including headliners Enter Shikari, who will be celebrating ten years since their debut release Take To The Skies. Also; we will be sadly waving goodbye to British rock band We Are The Ocean, as they play their last ever gig. Other acts to grace this stage also include Don Broco, Deaf Havana, Beartooth, Crossfaith, Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness, and another special guest to be announced shortly.
If Ska is more your cup of tea, then the sets on the Fireball Stage may be for you. Compared by MC Lars; the lineup includes plenty to jump around to such as Bowling For Soup, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger, Mad Caddies, Zebrahead, The Ataris and Fenix TX.
Neck Deep headline the Monster stage, and pop-punk fans will be in for a treat as Cute Is What We Aim For perform their debut album The Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch. American band We The Kings are celebrating ten years together with an extra special set on this stage, while The Movielife, The Main, WSTR, Trophy Eyes and Like Pacific will all also be making appearances.
The Key Club is a venue in Leeds which has hosted Slam Dunk’s club nights since way before the festival was ever envisaged; so there is always a dedication to that in the form of their Key Club Stage, which hosts the finest contemporary rock artists around. This year it will be a particular highlight as Tonight Alive, Set It Off, Seaway, Waterparks, With Confidence, Boston Manor, Black Foxxes, Decade and Fort Hope all perform.
The Signature Brew stage is great for those who love punk and similar genres and this year Against Me! will be headlining along with The Bronx, Frank Lero & The Patience, Citizen, Turnover, Crime In Stereo, Milk Teeth, Sorority Noise and Puppy.
Memphis May Fire are headlining the Impericon stage; which offers an abundance of heavier acts. Also; this stage sees the return of Chicago rockers Madina Lake after a four year hiatus, along with Stray From The Path, I Prevail, Counterfeit, Ice Nine Kills, Oceans Are Alaska, Shvpes and Too Close To Touch.
If you love to see acts before they become huge names, then check out the Rock Sound Breakout Stage; which will showcase some of the finest up and coming talents right now including Area 11, Casey, Homebound, Makeout, Ocean Grove, Sylar, The Gospel Youth and Vukovi.
Uprawr Stage will be the ultimate place to chill throughout the day as a host of wonderful artists all perform acoustic sets including I Am The Avalanche, Nightmare of You, Grumble Bee, Louise Distras, The Lion and the Wolf and Lizzy Farrall. This will also be followed up by the Uprawr DJs until 11pm with several awesome giveaways.
Slam Dunk is suitable for ages 14+ and day tickets are £44; but for those who are 18+ and want to carry on partying afterwards, the live music is followed up by the ridiculously fun afterparty which runs until the early hours and is included in a £49 ticket. For tickets, check out the website.
